Carpenter Apprenticeship Classes
Journey-Level Skills Advancement Program

If you are interested in any of these classes, please call the Labor Technical College at (212) 727-2224. When you register for a class, approximately one month before the class begins, you will receive a letter reminding you of the class start date. Once you receive this confirmation, you must respond in the proper time frame to hold your place.
Please do not sign up for courses that you feel you will NOT participate in. Please limit yourself to signing up for no more than (2) two courses at a time.
You must be a member of the New York City District Council of Carpenters in good standing. You must show proof of same on the first day of class.
All 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentices are eligible to enroll in a journey level course along with their regular scheduled apprenticeship course. There will be no apprenticeship credit given for journey level training.
Minimum Enrollment – Each year the cost of training increases. To insure that the membership’s funds are used prudently, the Labor Technical College has identified a minimum number of participants for each scheduled class. No class will commence unless these minimum numbers are reached.

- Construction Foreman Training:
- 20 hour Course – 5 Nights – Available Seating 24 members – Minimum enrollment: 8
- Basic Computer Training:
- 28 hour Course – 7 Nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 4

- Advanced Computer Training:
- 20 hour Course – 5 Nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 4
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Intro to Auto Cad Computer Training:
- 36 hour Course – 9 Nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 5
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Dupont Bath Surfaces:
- 4 hour Course – 1 Night – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Laser: Mobile Laser Operators Certification Training:
- 12 hour Course – 3 Nights – Available Seating 35 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- U. B. C. Lift Truck Certification Training:
- 8 hour Course – Available Seating 15 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- U. B. C. Aerial Lift Operator Qualification Program:
- 8 hour Course –Available Seating 20 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Trade Show Industry:
- 48 hour Course – 12 Nights -Available Seating 24 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- U. B. C. Rigging Qualification Training:
- 32 hour Course –Available Seating 20 members – Minimum enrollment: 6

- Scaffold Industry Association Suspended Scaffold Training:
- This training is contracted out to a licensed vendor. Please contact the school for information & course schedule
- Enacted in the year 2000, the NYC Department of Buildings Rigging Rule 9-03 mandates that all individuals working on a suspension scaffold to have been trained to work on a suspension scaffold. The primary requirement for an individual to be deemed “fit” to work on a scaffold is the passing of a NYC Department of Buildings recognized scaffold safety course. Participants in this training are full time employees of signatory scaffold companies who erect, dismantle and work off suspended scaffolds.
- U. B. C. Scaffold Qualification Refresher Training:
- 8 hour Course – 2 nights -Seating 50 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- 32 Hour Scaffold certification expires in 3 years. To maintain your scaffold certification, you must complete the 8 hour refresher course of study.
8 hour Course – 2 Nights – Available Seating 50 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
Wednesday June 4th – Thursday June 4th

- Solid Surface Refresher:
- 32 hour Course –Available Seating 20 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Stretch Wall:
- 24 hour Course – 6 nights -Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 6
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Hardwood Floor Installation – Nail Down:
- 20 hour Course – 5 nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 8
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Hardwood Floor Installation – Glue Down:
- 20 hour Course – 5 nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 8
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Artificial Turf Installation:
- 40 hour Course – 10 nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 8
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Floating Floor Installation:
- 20 hour Course – 5 nights – Available Seating 12 members – Minimum enrollment: 8
- Classes will be scheduled as needed
- Welding Heavy Gauge:
- 48 hour Course – 12 nights – Available Seating 24 members – Minimum enrollment: 8

Members can only attend the Welding Class they have signed up for (No Exceptions). No member will be allowed in class unless they have received a letter validating their placement in this class.
